From my experience as a nail professional, I often have clients asking me which is better between gel nails and acrylic nails. My answer is always based on their natural nails, lifestyle, preferred look, and maintenance expectations. Both options can create beautiful, long-lasting results, but they are quite different in application and finish.
Gel nails are known for their glossy, natural-looking finish and flexibility. They can be a great choice for clients who prefer a lighter feel and a polished appearance. Gel products are typically cured under a UV or LED lamp, which helps them set properly.
Acrylic nails are created by combining a liquid and powder system to form a durable enhancement over the natural nail. I often consider acrylic when a client wants added length, strength, or a more structured nail shape.
Before recommending either option, I always assess the condition of the client’s natural nails and understand how they use and maintain their nails. Proper application, removal, and regular maintenance are important for keeping the natural nails in good condition.
For me, there is no single “best” option. The right choice is the one that suits your nails, lifestyle, and desired look. My goal is always to create beautiful nails while keeping natural nail care and comfort in mind.
